On Saturday, April 23, 2022, Rikard & Protopapas lawyers, family members, and friends participated in Pawmetto Lifeline’s spring fundraiser, Bark to the Park. Every year, more than 800 people and their dogs gather for a variable walk and “After-Pawty” featuring vendors, pet contests, and more to help fund Pawmetto Lifeline’s mission of being a no-kill community in the Midlands.
Rikard & Protopapas is proud to be a Pawmetto Lifeline Business Partner and a sponsor of Bark to the Park this year. As regular attendees of the event, it was great to be back in-person at Saluda Shoals Park after 2 years of virtual events due to COVID-19.
“Our firm fully supports Pawmetto Lifeline’s mission of being a no-kill shelter,” says attorney and CFO, Allyson Rikard. “We also support their efforts to help control the pet population with their initiatives like the spay/neuter clinics. We are also proud to be part of the Pawmetto Lifeline Business Partner program giving us the opportunity to sponsor our own fundraising events throughout the year.”
Every year, 21% of the homeless dogs and cats entering the Lexington & Richland County shelters are euthanized due to overcrowding in these facilities. With hopes of decreasing this number, Pawmetto Lifeline became a no-kill community in the Midlands. Since 1999, the organization has saved more than 51,000 pets from euthanasia and given them a second chance at life.
Allyson Rikard served on Pawmetto Lifeline’s board and helped with fundraising for their 2 annual events, Bark to the Park and the Fur Ball. As an advocate for animal rights and a rescue dog-mom, Rikard believes “no dog or cat should never be euthanized simply because they don’t have home.”
Pawmetto Lifeline also provides several other services to pets in the Midlands to help combat animal overpopulation. Their medical services include a mobile vaccine clinic, on-site vaccine services, high-volume spay and neuter clinics, and low-cost wellness clinics with full-service veterinary care.
