Ms. Rikard focuses her practice in criminal defense work and has an active pro-bono practice representing impoverished citizens in state and federal criminal matters. She also litigates nursing home abuse, and medical malpractice cases. She is a frequent speaker at the University of South Carolina University 101 classes and at various campus organizations. She is active in the arts, education and animal rights.

Biography

Allyson Rikard joined Rikard & Protopapas in 2007 as an associate. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Rikard was an assistant solicitor in the Fifth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s office. As an assistant solicitor, Ms. Rikard worked with state and local law enforcement to prosecute both felony and misdemeanor crimes. Her background as a state prosecutor gives Ms. Rikard a unique perspective in defending clients who have been charged with a crime. Currently Ms. Rikard focuses her practice on criminal defense. She is a member of the South Carolina Bar, U.S. District Court, District of South Carolina and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit.
