A staggering 49% of all car crash fatalities occurred on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday according to a 2015 report from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Using the US Department of Transportation’s Fatality Analysis Reporting System, they identified alcohol, speeding, and the lack of safety belt use as the key factors contributing to weekend crash fatalities.

Each year the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety analyzes crash trends and statistics. The year 2015 showed a 7% increase in deaths compared to the year before.  It was also the highest number of crash related fatalities since 2008. Look for the 2016 report to be released later in 2017.

Crashes that result in fatalities, whether caused by tractor trailer accidents or car crashes, have devastating effects on loved ones left behind.
